Floor plans

Welcome to the relaunch of my blog, in what will be a forum for any up to date news relating to my art.

Since the close of the Man/son (and the haunting of the American Madonna) show last October, I have been busy making preparations for the next series, 'Purgatorium', getting the studio habitable again, priming canvases and working on preliminaries.
This will be my largest show to date comprising 33 pieces in all, with a planned exhibit in March 2015.

In the interim, there will be the launch of the Man/son book-'Rise' this February, which will contain the paintings from the show, alongside sketches, personal study notes and annotations.

Following on from that, there will be some more exciting happenings, which I don't want to say too much about at the moment, except suffice to say that with more art than you can shake a sable at, the new year is off to a flying start .

In the meantime,I'll leave you with an explanation of the painting above, which comes from the End of the world show at the Ruby Room on 12/21/2012.

The Ruby Room was the first venue I showcased at in San Diego almost five years to the date-and like the serpent swallowing its tail, it was the perfect closing of an arc, which naturally, culminated in me painting a dead, red Cardinal as a cherry on the cake of years.

Object D' Art-Eliza Rickman

I first became acquainted with Eliza Rickman's very unique musical prowess when I was showing at the Hive earlier this year-accompanied by a miniature piano called a Schoenhut, and looking like a beautiful Burtonesque, Victorian, porcelain doll, her fragile allure belied the set that followed.
Kicking off with a potent version of Dear Prudence, she sounded somewhere between the mellifluous tones of Mary Hopkin and Siouxie Sioux, fed through a worm hole that plays the balmy side show static of tinkling pianola. This was to be no obscure karaoke act however, the retinue of songs that followed-with self penned titles such as 'Black Rose', 'Lily Love', Over Cold Shoulders' & 'Cinnamon Bone', revealed a delicate, haunting quirkiness to sanguine themes of bittersweet longing and friendships past.
She also posessed the kind of bohemian black eyed enchantment of every willowy French girl who ever sat outside a cafe clutching a Sylvia Plath novel that I was captivated by as an art student, with the exception that this lady had acres of true talent, actually read all of those books and was and is a true starlet in waiting.

Guild the Lily-her debut cd is available to download, and she is also playing here at the Ruby Room in San Diego on the 18th of December.

Showboat-A short time ago, in a galaxy far, far in Hillcrest

Flying at the speed of an imperial X-wing fighter, and without the aid of a droid, we set down on the planet Hillcrest, and bartered with the sentient's at the Ruby Room canteen, where we encountered a vast array of units, but no sand people thankfully.
The night was an unexpected pleasure, and I'd like to thank Jasonn at City Beat, Sean and Brittni at the Ruby Room, Jill and Jordan for organizing what will be the final More Super event, and everyone who attended, ecspecially the friends and family members who turned out at a moments notice.
Here are a small smattering of shots from last evening, some courtesy of the lovely Jill-Good Luck in your new venture Jill!!

Show boat-May the Force with me.

A little impromptu show tonight has fallen in my lap this morning-courtesy of the More Super nites organizer Jill Johnson. Its her final event before she leaves for pastures new, but it's made all the more special in that it shall be also showcasing the talents of Star Wars artist Lee Kohse, as well as some special set pieces from the film. The venue is at the Ruby Room in San Diego, Hillcrest, where I showed earlier this year. I shall be setting up around 6.30 at the City Beat tent.
