Crimes of our Times
Plenty of criminal activity happening these days of course, not least America's hellbent descent into full bananas republican, but this is from a recent webcast, in which I talk to John Borowski, who featured me in his Serial Killer Culture documentary, about my former Man/son series, modern day conspiracy, growing up in Liverpool as well as giving a peek into my next series-Infernal.
Watch it below.

Healter Skelter featured in Real Crime magazine
Almost four years on from it’s inception, the Man/son series is still seeding its way into sidebar press. That the work was almost entirely neglected and ignored by all the usual suspects upon my exhibition’s release, says more about the status quo of the ‘art arbiters’ (or artbiters for short), than it does about public taste.
Certainly, it’s feature in John Borowski’s documentary, Serial Killer Culture on Netflix, afforded it a second life and a continued legion of new fans- which I am entirely grateful for.
Which is why I am delighted that John has an interview talking about all his films in this months Real Crime magazine, which is also illustrated by one of the pivotal pieces from the series-Healter Skelter.
The magazine goes on sale in Barnes and Nobel stores from December 17th-go on, spill someones eggnog when they open their Christmas stocking.

San Diego State University Screening Serial Killer Culture
My Man/son showcase is already three years young-hard to believe really.
That it continues to be my most popular and well known series, says something about the public's continuing fascination with the subject, and the none too paltry power of Netflix instant play.
Which is why I shall be honored to be attending a screening and subsequent panel for Serial Killer Culture, at San Diego State University on the 10th of April, alongside director John Borowski, Artist and publisher Hart Fisher, Criminologist Dr. Thomas Gitchoff, Head of SDSU Special Collections Robert Ray, and Federal Bureau of Prisons Retiree Joel Goodman.
Screening starts at 6:00pm at SDSU's Little Theater 161- $3 Students $5 Public.
There will also be an additional night to see the screening on the 11th of April, please note that I shall be unable to attend due to a former commitment

SERIAL KILLER CULTURE NOW STREAMING ON NETFLIX
Hard to believe that just two short years ago, I was in a similar storm working on the Man/son showcase. Of course-the scale, proportions and the month of fevered frenzy it took, are worlds apart from the years work I have just undertaken. Still, evoking as it did; the dark Cabalistic, turbulence surrounding a ritualistic killing during the summer of 69, and threading the seeping black tendrils of madness and paranoia spanning centuries, is not the best of pursuits when you are painting for fourteen hours a day, inhaling turpentine in 106 degrees and listening to Revolution 9 on repeat.
Still, I came out the other side, none the richer or wiser, and now since it's part of the segment of a documentary called Serial Killer Culture, you can stream my fifteen minute moment, to see and hear more for yourself.

Honorary mentions-reviews for Serial Killer Culture are in
The Serial Killer Culture documentary has been out a few weeks now (available HERE), and the reviews have been really favorable, with a couple of pretty splendid nods to my segment. Below are a collection of excerpts and links to the standouts.
"....two other artists David Van Gough, whose artwork delves into the deep symbolism of the Manson Murders and graphic artist Sam Hane, who does serial killer-inspired artwork collages in mixed media, are showcased at length showing both the artist’s talents and their intentions behind their artwork. Hearing these artists talk about their own work was a highlight for me, and just as fascinating as the horrific minds that inspired the artwork to begin with."
Aint it Cool
" Some artists are featured including David Van Gough. His lengthy discourse on a painting he did about Charles Manson is fascinating to say the least. Gough really did his homework on the Manson legacy and wove all kinds of tidbits into one big piece. His reference point was Sharon Tate (he’s a big fan of The Fearless Vampire Killers). This segment was perhaps the most surprising and unique."
Liquid Cheese Fanzine
"...artists like David Van Gough who is a very talented painter who cites there are some similarities in the Manson Murders and the Black Dahlia Murder case (both cases had murdered women and acts of mutilation for effect)"

"...Gough’s necrorealism made me rethink my aversion to so-called macabre art, and he’s become a treasured colleague."

SERIAL KILLER CULTURE DOCUMENTARY-NOW AVAILABLE
It's officially out, my-just over by five-fifteen minutes of fame debut on the small screen, tying up nicely the whole artistic / atavistic Man/son foray circa 2012.
Putting aside my little radar blip, what John Borowski's splendid documentary does is through an assemblage of contributors, present an articulate viewpoint of societies fascination with it's monsters, and their dilution into the cultural psyche.
I make an appearance just over an hour in for anyone interested, just before the mighty Joe Coleman-grand company indeed.

Man/son Bizarre Bazaar
Finally bagged myself a copy courtesy of my daughter-Bad Vibes and Something Witchy sharing column space in an article about Serial Killers. Splendid.
Newcomers whose interest was piqued enough to make it thus far-Most Welcome!! For the uninitiated, the Cliff notes are as follows...
My insidious study of sinister architecture surrounding the Manson case culminated in a month of frenzied activity for the Man/son and the haunting of the American Madonna show, which ran during October 2012 at Hyaena Gallery in LA.
It was an undertaking borne in the mouth of madness, and by the end I was frazzled from dancing with dark forces and could hear Charlies grizzled voice in my sleep.
The full gallery's for the show can be found on my website:

Those paintings, plus my crazed meanderings are noted for posterity in a book entitled Rise-which was released February last year and can be purchased from the following:

The pieces are to be featured in a forthcoming documentary entitled Serial Killer Culture, which premiered in Chicago recently, and shall be streaming on Netflix soon-trailer below, details to follow:
I also did a podcast to discuss the series last year which you can listen to here:
Upon a midnight dreary podcast
I think that's about the size of it, but you are welcome to stick around, there's bigger and better things to come.

Final trailer for Serial Killer Culture
Dropped today, the latest trailer for John Borowski's Serial Killer Culture-the documentary I was interviewed for about my Man/son showcase. Featuring as it does, Joe Coleman, the Crawlspace Brothers, Hart Fisher, Matthew Aarronn, Macabre and a host of others, I appear briefly at around the 1.15 mark.
No word on a release date, but I have it on good authority that it should be available at select screenings soon, as well as on general release through Netflix streaming in the new year.

Serial Killer Culture poster design
Perhaps it's jumping the gun, but in my haste I wanted to share this remarkable poster design by Kevin Stone, for the forthcoming documentary release of Serial Killer Culture. Chosen following a competition for the best submission that will accompany the cover of the DVD release, It has a gorgeous retro feel which-although incongruous-when one considers the meat of the matter, perfectly encapsulates the tenet of Borowski's purpose.
Having long dabbled in the arena of design for the occasional tossed bone, it's a welcome and refreshingly intelligent, reminiscence of era's past.

Picture this-the Art of Serial Killer Culture
Here's another still from the upcoming documentary-Serial Killer Culture, In which I am trying to break the fourth dimension by disappearing into the paint. Whilst we all await my talking head debut, check out some of John Borowski's titles on Netflix, because real life monsters are much scarier-

John Borowski's Serial Killer Culture
As a general rule of 'dumb', I will not post prospective news, unless it's a 'shoo in' or already out there. Happily, this latest-and not inconsiderable dent in the wall-could fall under either category, as a short time ago, I was invited to contribute some "face time" to a forthcoming documentary by John Borowski entitled 'Serial Killer Culture'.
Aficionados of such esoterical study, may know Johns several other titles such as H.H Holmes, Carl Panzram and Albert Fish, several of which are mainstays over on Netflix (so check them out)
John Borowski Netflix
His latest project seems no less comprehensive, a veritable dissection of psychopathic devotees, and over several hours-and quite fittingly at Hyaena gallery-I discussed last Octobers Man/son show, my theories about the case, Sinister Architecture, and a number of other 'bumf'. My prattlings shall be accompanied by fellow artisans of the stature of Joe Coleman, Crawlspace Bros,Hart Fisher, Rick Staton and my fellow Hyaena stablemate-Clint Carney.
Come what may, and though I am not present yet, do watch the preview trailer below, and bookmark the website HERE
